๐ŸšฉSri Ramanavami๐Ÿšฉ

        ๐ŸšฉSri Ramanavami๐Ÿšฉ

     Chaitra Shuddha Navami is the ninth day of Navratri in the month of Chaitra according to the Hindu calendar.  It is believed that on this date Shri Ram, considered as the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born.  Every Hindu festival has a special meaning.  It is believed to represent the defeat of the evil forces on earth and the arrival of God to save the common people from the terrible.  Lord Vishnu took human form on this day to end the evil deeds of demons on this planet.  This day is celebrated as Sri Ram Navami.  On that afternoon when the sun rises overhead (at 12:00 PM), the Ramjanma ceremony takes place.  A picture or idol of Lord Rama is tied along with other garlands.  While worshiping Lord Rama, they apply incense to him with the ring finger, i.e. ring finger.  Also, Turmeric-Kunku Vahats are offered to Sri Rama by first taking turmeric and then kunku, pinched by the thumb and ring finger of the right hand.  Kevada, Champa, Jasmine and Jai flowers flow to Sri Rama.  After that, Aarti is performed and Prasad is offered.  In the festivals celebrated on the day of Ramjanma, the cradle of Ramjanma is said.

 On the day of Sri Rama Navami, this birth festival is celebrated by performing bhajans, pujas, kirtans, sermons etc.  In some places, during the period of Gudhipadwa to Ramnavami, reading of the Ramayana, presentation of the story of Rama, singing of the song Ramayana etc. are also conducted.  As Shri Ram is the favorite deity of all the young and old, all the small and great groups participate in this festival.

                            Ram Janma Katha

         King Dasharatha of Ayodhya and his son Lord Sri Rama are the subjects of the famous and sacred Hindu epic known as the Ramayana.  In the Treta Yuga there was a king named Dasharatha, who had three wives (Kaushalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi).  As he was childless, he was worried about who would rule Ayodhya in the future.  Renowned sage Vashishta once advised him to perform child sacrifice to fulfill his wish for a son.  After the yajna, they received a bowl of holy kheer from the yajna deity.  He gave the holy kheer in the bowl to all the three women.  After a few days of eating the pudding, all the queens became pregnant.  On the ninth day of the month of Chaitra, Kausalya gave birth to Lord Rama, Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharata and Sumitra gave birth to twins named Lakshmana and Shatrughna.
 According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Sri Rama in the world of death to end the atrocities of Ravana in the Treta Yuga and restore religion.  Sri Ramachandraji was born on Chaitra Shukla Navami to Rani Kaushalya in Punarvasu Nakshatra and Cancer Raasi in the house of King Dasharatha. Ram Navami is celebrated all over India.  Bhadrachalam Temple in Telangana is one of the places where Ram Navami is celebrated with great pomp.  The festival of Ramnavami has been celebrated for many years.
 Aghan Panchami
 Margashirsha is called Agahan in Hindi.
 Although Rama's birth is believed to be on Chaitra Shukla Navami throughout India, the Vaishya community of Ayodhya, where Rama was born, believes that Rama was born on Panchami in the month of Margashirsha.  That Panchami is called Agahan Panchami.

 The basis for this is the following reference from Tulsidasa's 'Ram Charit Mansa':-
 Mangal Mool Lagan Dinu Aya |
 Him ripu agahan masu suhawa||
 Graha Tithi Nakhtu Jogu Var Baru|
 Lagan Sodhi Method Keinh Phikhu||

Significance of Ram Navami

 This festival is celebrated in India with great reverence and respect.  Chaitra Navratri also ends on Ram Navami day.  According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Shri Ramji was born on this day, so devotees celebrate this auspicious date as Ram Navami and take holy bath in holy rivers.

 As Lord Rama is considered a direct descendant of the Sun in Indian mythology, the day is inaugurated by offering water to the Sun at sunrise.  Apart from this, the Akhand Ramayana is recited at many places and at the time of Rama's birth, special abhishek, tilak literature is given to his idol and then offerings are made to him by burning incense etc.

 Ram Navami Pooja Method:

 Following is how Ram Navami is worshipped.

 1) Bathe to purify oneself before going to the place of worship and sitting with proper prasad.

 2) There should be tulsi leaves and lotus for worship.

 3) After that Shrodshopachar pooja should be performed on Shri Ram Navami.

 4) Prepare fruit-radish prasad and kheer.

 The youngest woman in the house applies tilak on everyone's foreheads after pooja.

 Offerings are made to God as part of the Aarti ritual.  Bhandaro which takes the form of Prasad is also organized on this day for the devotees of God.  Lord Rama's entire life serves as an example;  It is a testament to sacrifice, repentance, respect and harmony.  His life is also a testament to the value of family.

 Despite Mata Kaikeyi's prejudice, his strong affection for his brothers did not diminish.  He also had equal respect and love for his mother Kaikeyi.  In addition, the life of a person who protects society from tyranny shows that tyranny will ever increase on this earth and the pot of sin will rise above the pot of virtue.

 By the way, the entire history of India serves as an example of this, which explains why symbols representing manifestations of Lord Krishna, Rama and countless other deities appear here.
